AVP Huntington Beach Open 2023: Championship Sunday

Caught two pairs that were the best on the beach, at the AVP Huntington Beach Open 2023. Julia Scoles & Betsi Flint, took on Taryn Kloth & Kristen Nuss on Championship Sunday in the Semifinals. In 3 tightly contested sets, these very talented athletes battled all the way to the end, entertaining the crowd at this historic AVP beach volleyball tournament.

AVP Huntington Beach Open 2023: Semifinals – Kloth/Nuss vs. Scoles/Flint

The duo of Betsi Flint (wearing her LMU visor) and Julia Scoles would emerge with the Win. Coached by beach volleyball great, April Ross (while pregnant at the time). They would go on to lose in the finals, to USC alumni and 2024 Olympic Gold Medalist hopefuls, Sarah Hughes & Kelly Cheng.

Another great weekend for beach volleyball, with weather in Southern California that was unprecedented. Record amounts of rainfall touched the southland, all over, taking California out of the drought the state had been in for several years. You may notice the crowd is not dressed for a sunny or warm day. It was on the cool side, with light drizzle on and off. Despite the inclement weather these athletes gave it their best efforts, and left their all on the sand!

We hope we captured some of the best moments from this match!
