El Camino hosts Debut of Cuesta Beach Volleyball in 2024

Friday morning in Torrance California, on the beautiful sand courts at El Camino College, January 26th, 2024. The opening of the 2024 beach volleyball season took place, and would host the debut of the Cuesta College beach volleyball program. Before that, El Camino, one of the top programs in their region, would battle Cal State Fullerton. That’s where we start off – on what was a beautiful sunny day in Southern California. Sands were still moist from rains earlier that week.

See this again without commentary along with more galleries from this day:

You can also see a few highlights from the Cuesta Beach Volleyball debut, over on our Instagram.

Stay tuned for more commentary from the season opener.  Fullerton and Cuesta opening against El Camino and Rio Hondo College.

Both of these programs have been beach volleyball powerhouses for the last few seasons. Easily the top two in this part of Southern California. Just north of their section I’d say it’s a toss up between Ventura and Santa Barbara. South of them, OCC with IVC close behind. Further south, Grossmont and SD Mesa stand out.

So coming out against the ECC Warriors and Lady Roadrunners, not a bad way to start.

As for the featured gallery above, it starts out with #3’s Adelynn Abrams / Kayla Keyzer (ECC) who would defeat Kimmy Gonzales / Kristal Mendoza of Fullerton (FC) in 2 sets: 21-3, 26-24.  Also we see some of Ryan D’Angelo / Bridget Dorr at the 2’s, against Fullerton’s Arianna Islas / Sofia Chua.

The start of Yasmin Watanabe / Crystal Salgado  against Brianna Mendez / Emily Finnegan at the 4’s is also in this opening gallery.  Keep an eye out on ECC this season, they went 5-0 including a forfeit at the 5’s. A few images of  Perla Lopez / Alyssa Estrada who scrimmaged against a pair from Rio Hondo while waiting for their season debut against Fullerton next.

We then move to the #1’s for ECC, Erica Griffiths / Sophia Ortiz  defeating Fullerton’s Amelia Hahs / Angie Alvarado (FC) 21-5, 21-12.

Much more from the day is on the way!

Check back soon for the conclusion of El Camino vs. Fullerton – and the matches between Fullerton against Rio Hondo!
