Throwback from March 3rd, 2023 in Belmont Shores, CA. A powerful beach volleyball program from San Diego, came to town to visit. Hosted by El Camino College, Cypress College and Fullerton were all in attendance. We were there to cover this CCCAA beach volleyball event. The weather in Southern California was crazy all beach volleyball season. Due to historic rainfall early this year, the beautiful beach campus of El Segundo wasn’t fit for use.
So we found ourselves at Rosie’s Dog Beach for the morning. I arrived late, and just missed SD Mesa against El Camino. But I did get most of their matches against Fullerton.
SD Mesa Beach Volleyball vs. Fullerton Beach Volleyball – March 3rd, 2023 in Belmont Shores
SD Mesa would win this match pretty easily. This was one of the more dominant beach volleyball clubs overall in 2023.  Two pairs went to the State Finals from SD Mesa. I caught them fresh off of defeating El Camino 4-1. Fullerton would fall 5-0; at this point in their season SD Mesa beach was undefeated, at 7-0.
Finishing the season at 23-3 overall, and 12-0 in conference along with another ‘coach of the year’ honor for Kim Lester. SD Mesa would also win their conference for the 2nd year in a row.
