Covering the Charlie Saikley 6man in Manhattan Beach the last few years, 2025 was special. Seemingly there more people in attendance watching the matches than in the last couple of years. However, I understand that back in the day, the crowds for both days were even crazier. Needless to say, it’s an incredible display of beach volleyball talent, for both the men’s and women’s game. Many consider it, the best weekend of the year, and it would be hard to disagree with that.
I was shooting a match at Golden West College earlier this year, and one of the coaches from the visiting team was talking about 6man.
That was all the way back in March!
It’s the weekend that everyone in beach volleyball is looking forward to. Literally the all-star weekend, of beach volleyball. The best beach volleyball players in the world are here for it, unless they’re already scheduled to compete some where else in the world. Some slight changes this year included not allowing teams to storm the court after every single point. Many of the refs did enforce it, but they weren’t too strict. That change helped keep the matches moving, so the tourney didn’t go too late.
They made a special ball just for 6man. Happened to get a real good shot of it here:

- Defending their crown on the women’s side, Gummy Gainz went back to back, as champions of the 6man weekend – I was leaving and just happened to catch the team celebrating outside of their headquarters; Watch as they sing “We Are The Champions!” right now (a video with 26,000+ views as of this post)
