Truly a battle of heavyweights, as Long Beach State took on Cal Poly at the 2025 Big West Championship. Picking up action in the final, a few scenes from the beach, in Santa Monica, California. April 25th, 2025.
Gotta love living in Southern California, especially if you’re a beach volleyball fan. Two of the top teams in the nation – both will be playing for the national Title in Gulf Shores in May. Cal Poly and Long Beach State came into the weekend tournament, ranked as top 10 teams. What a treat, watching them leave it all on the sand.
Long Beach State would emerge with the victory, and the 2025 Big West Championship Title.

1’s – Malia Gementera/Taylor Hagenah vs Piper Ferch/Erin Inskeep (super good match; Went 3 sets, and you’ll see some of what Ferch & Inskeep had to do to force a 3rd set, against one of the top duos in the nation. Gementera/Hagenah won Big West Pair of the Week 5 times during the 2025 season.
The 3rd set did not finish as the, 3s – Demi Wagdy/Megan Widener would defeat Quinn Perry/Lindsey Sparks to clinch the Dual 3-1; only captured that moment on video from their match. A crazy rally in the match between Skyler Germann/Natalie Glenn vs. Ella Connor/Madi Nichols, is also featured in this video playlist, a match won by LBSU. One of the three needed, to clinch the Big West for the 2nd time in 3 years.
